The Abbot, Clifton Hill
Dilapidated 1903 timber cottage transformed into modern luxe living.
This Victorian timber cottage has been transformed by the Tempo Group into a contemporary, light-filled inner city home, with an industrial edge. Due to heritage constraints, the original building had to be kept and in just over 6 months, the existing house was restored and a substantial two-storey extension added to the rear.
The renovation features an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, with large sliding doors seamlessly linking the new space to the alfresco courtyard and BBQ. Downstairs also features a superb main bathroom, with laundry and plenty of concealed storage. Upstairs is home to the main bedroom, ensuite and living area/study.
The successful marriage of old and new creates textural interest. The exposed original brick wall adds a sense of warmth and history inside, complementing the new oak timber flooring.
